Because of these developments, certain systems benefit from the governments campaign to encourage private individuals to purchase energy efficient products for the home
What this means to you is a V.A.T. reduction of 15% below the standard rate
Through a change in the VAT Act 1994, in Statutory Instrument 2005 No. 726; that came into force on the 7th April 2005, the VAT chargeable on these items was reduced to just 5%

VAT on certain models is charged at just 5%
The reduced rate applies to the supply and installation of qualifying air conditioning equipment in residential accommodation or premises whose sole use is for a registered charity
There has never been a better time to have air conditioning fitted in your home as the V.A.T reduction makes such a difference to the overall cost
Even with the recent standard rate of VAT increased to 20%, the lower rate of 5% is unchanged
For example, an energy efficient heat pump system with a net cost of £1200.00 will only cost £60.00 more with the VAT added, showing a saving of £180.00
